The Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation provides $50,000 Match Grant
to Friendship Centers’ Health Clinics
On July 17, 2015 the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation awarded a $50,000 dollar-for-dollar match grant to the Friendship Centers in support of its medical and dental clinics in response to the funding shortfalls due to recent vetoes out of Tallahassee.
“It’s great to help an organization like the Friendship Centers where retired physicians and dentists volunteer their time and expertise to make the most of every philanthropic dollar,” said Teri A Hansen, President and CEO of the Barancik Foundation. “A match grant is an exciting way to generate community support.”
“We appreciate the challenge of difficult funding decisions, but we also know how crucial quality medical and dental care is to our patients. Without Medicaid expansion, the veto of $9.5 million to the Florida Association of Free and Charitable Clinics was a double whammy,” said Friendship Centers Senior Vice President, Erin McLeod.
“That’s when the Barancik Foundation came to the rescue, offering an enticing opportunity for other donors to leverage gifts. We are so grateful to the Barancik Foundation for their support,” said McLeod. “They quickly responded and prevented devastating cuts to our medical and dental services.”
This funding will pay for diagnostics, supplies, lab fees, equipment replacement or repairs, recruitment of volunteer doctors, training and personnel to conduct eligibility screenings.
