Friendship at Home matches caring volunteers with isolated seniors through:

• Telephone Reassurance
• Friendly Visitor Program
• Supportive Intervention Programs

Volunteers are offered orientation, training and continuing education classes, before being paired with clients according to interests and schedules. Professional support is provided to answer volunteer questions.

Telephone Reassurance

Volunteers in this program makes a simple daily phone call creating a lifeline for an older adult who is homebound and alone.

Friendly Visitor

Be a ray of sunshine and brighten the life an isolated older adult. As little as an hour a week spent visiting your new friends will become time you both look forward to and enjoy.

Supportive Intervention

Seniors who may need individual help in accessing  community resources are prime candidates for Supportive Intervention. This help is provided by our Friendship at Home Coordinator.

What You Can Do

You can be the vital link needed to help an isolated older person in our community live with independence and dignity. Volunteers may:

• Provide compassionate care through friendly visits to neighbors who are frail and lonely.
• Help with errands, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions.

A Gift of Time

Many volunteers have remarked that this is the most rewarding work they have ever done. What seems like such a simple task - a phone call, a regular visit - may well be the lifeline that keeps a lonely senior healthy.
