You Matter, Too! a new 8-week Mindfulness Program for Caregivers providing tools to deal with stress, improve self-care and build resiliency, will be offered by the Friendship Centers Caregiver Resource Centers and Moment Health. In Sarasota it begins June 6 and in Venice, it begins  June 7.
Wells Fargo Donates $7,500 to Support Friendship Centers’ Aging Mastery Program®

Research by Dr. William Weiss Shows Breathing Easier with Pulmonica
Can playing the harmonica make it easier to breathe for people with COPD and other respiratory problems? Recent research at the Friendship Centers by pulmonologist Dr. William Weiss, shows that the pulmonica, a specially tuned harmonica for non- musicians that exercises the diaphram and chest muscles, can improve lung function using vibrations to loosen congestion.

Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 12, older adults in Venice will have access to a proven program that shows even small changes to one’s lifestyle can lead to a longer, healthier life. Through a community partnership with the Patterson Foundation and the National Council on Aging, the ten-week Aging Mastery Program® will be offered at the Venice Friendship Center, 2350 Scenic Drive.
