The Season of Sharing a program begun 13 years ago through a partnership between the Herald-Tribune and the Community Foundation of Sarasota County. Since then, it  has broadened to include other media outlets and nonprofit groups have become partners in this effort, which solicits donations during the holiday season and disburses the funds year-round to those in need. The Friendship Centres are among the charitable agencies who donate their time to administer the program so that every penny collected goes to help people avoid financial collapse.
