Erin McLeod, president and CEO of the Friendship Centers, a non-profit organization serving older adults in Southwest Florida for more than four decades, received the Women in Business Leadership Circle Award during SRQ Magazine’s Annual Hear Me Roar Awards Luncheon on April 27.
Friendship Around the World Celebration 2017
  Friendship Around the World is our spring celebration, representing the true meaning of friendship in many languages. This year’s event will be held Sunday evening, March 12, 2017 at Michaels on the Bay at Selby Gardens in Sarasota.  Proceeds benefit the entire Friendship Centers organization.

Whoever said, “Big shoes aren’t easy to fill,” was so right, and I have small feet!   As I entered 2016, I was stepping into the shoes of an industry great – Bob Carter, President & CEO of the Friendship Centers for more than 28 years. He continues to be my mentor but has been a lot like Yoda from “Star Wars” in using the Socratic method to guide me and teach me to look around the corners at what lies ahead.

Friendship Centers Receives Grant of Nearly $300,000 for Health Clinics in Three Florida Counties
(Sarasota, FL) – Nov. 3, 2016 – The Friendship Centers, a non-profit organization serving older adults in Southwest Florida, has been awarded a grant of $290,580 to be used to upgrade equipment and enhance medical and dental services for uninsured or underinsured clients served by its health clinics in Sarasota, Lee and Collier Counties.

Research by Dr. William Weiss Shows Breathing Easier with Pulmonica
Can playing the harmonica make it easier to breathe for people with COPD and other respiratory problems? Recent research at the Friendship Centers by pulmonologist Dr. William Weiss, shows that the pulmonica, a specially tuned harmonica for non- musicians that exercises the diaphram and chest muscles, can improve lung function using vibrations to loosen congestion.
