Instructor Mike McManus brings his theatre and dancing talents to this class for the experienced tap dancer. Participants can brush up on their skills, get a refresher on techniques and prepare for recitals/shows. Mike selects the choreography numbers and music ahead of time to help make each class a memorable experiences.

Mike started his theatrical training in Miami, FL under the direction of Frank Bunette (Jackie Gleason’s director) and choreographer, Ron Daniels. Mike attended the famed American Academy of Dramatic Arts and The Herbert Berghof Studio in New York City. While in Manhattan he studied with many of America’s great dance talents including Henry La Tang, Mary Jane Brown, Carol Hess, Joel Bergman, Charles Kelley, Jerry Ames, Phil Cook, Charles and Kasha Lowe, Bob Audy, Luigi and Alvin Ailey. Mike also had the privilege of taking classes with Patsy Swayze (Patrick Swayze’s mom) in Houston, Texas. In Sarasota Mike has trained extensively in group exercise and balance movement classes with Verna Ferris (1975-2015). Altogether Mike has been teaching tap dancing and balance movement locally at various facilities for over 40 years!
