Through the ACCESS Florida program, elders can receive access to state and federal assistance programs and benefits, such as food stamps and Medicaid, by applying online. Call (941) 255-0723 for an appointment.

Enjoy a meal in a friendly social setting for the 60+ crowd at our four dining sites in Port Charlotte, Grove City, Harbour Heights,  and Punta Gorda. In addition to a nutritious lunch, you can participate in healthy aging activities, including cards and games and educational talks. A donation of $3 is suggested to help cover the cost of the meals. While no one is denied a meal if unable to pay, the contribution helps us provide more meals for older adults in Charlotte County, where the need is great. Transportation is available to the Rebecca Neal Owens Center dependent on availability with CCTransit.

Nutritious meals delivered to your door can make all the difference in the world if you become unable to cook for yourself or if you simply want to be assured of a healthy meal. Many people find it difficult to shop, navigate the store aisles or decide what to buy on a limited budget. Our home-delivered meals are developed by a licensed registered dietician to meet one-third of the recommended daily nutritional requirements for older adults. Our success is built on a network of volunteers who share our belief in the value of “people helping people.” Volunteers assist with visiting or making calls to local seniors. Our volunteers receive as much as they give.

Isolation is a challenge older adults often deal with when they choose to age in place. Especially if a spouse or partner passes away, survivors sometimes fail to thrive on their own without intervention. We provide these programs:

• Telephone Reassurance – Volunteers will call once or twice a week to check on their clients and engage them in conversation.
• Friendly Visitor Program – Volunteers are matched with a senior who requests a friend to come and chat, help with errands, play games or just enjoy companionship.
• Supportive Intervention Programs – Our Friendship at Home coordinators can help clients with limited mobility access community resources to meet their needs.
