PEOPLE HELPING PEOPLE

Collier County

Welcome to the Senior Friendship Health Center.

Providing for the Medical and Dental Needs of Underserved Seniors

Each year patient lives are changed, undiagnosed diseases are treated, teeth are restored and smiles returned. Hope is renewed for adults 50 and older in Collier County.

If you’re a low-income resident of Collier County, 50 years of age or older and in need of medical or dental services, the Senior Friendship Health Center may be able to help. Conveniently located off Airport Pulling Road in East Naples, our center also offers patient education, onsite labs for uninsured patients, access to discounted medications, and diabetic testing supplies. While we treat chronic diseases, we do not treat chronic pain or provide chronic pain management services.

Our dental services include hygiene, oral exams and x-rays, fillings, crown/bridge, minor extractions and partials/dentures. We operate under the supervision of the Collier County Department of Health.

The Senior Friendship Health Center serves patients who are uninsured or underinsured on a sliding fee scale. Depending on your ability to pay, our services may be available at a very low cost. We work with many different health plans, including Medicare. We have flexible payment plans to ensure patients receive care when they need it, regardless of your ability to pay. Patients are accepted and eligibility is determined by financial need, regardless of employment status.

A Unique Model

The Senior Friendship Health Center is staffed by experienced volunteer physicians, dentists and nurses, which is one of the ways we are different from other community clinics. Also unique is the fact that our demographic is limited to adults over the age of 50. Our modern clinic facility offers a variety of specialty lines under one roof: gynecology, dermatology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonology and more.

Quite simply, the Senior Friendship Health Center is a brick in the foundation of confidence, health, employment and financial security for our patients. We help patients get their health and subsequently their lives back on track.

History

The Senior Friendship Health Center has been a crucial part of the Collier County community since 1985, when the clinic was established by Friendship Centers to provide comprehensive medical and dental care to the aging population in Collier County. This task started in the old Baptist Chapel on 7th Avenue in the heart of Naples, land purchased with funds raised in the community. The remaining funds were utilized to establish an endowment fund that sustained the facility’s operations through 2006.

In 2006, the Senior Friendship Health Center faced funding challenges and in order to save the facility and continue to provide services to the community, the organization sold the Chapel and leased space off Pine Ridge Road, placing the remaining monies into an endowment. This endowment remains today and provides 5% towards the operating expenses of the Senior Friendship Health Center.

January 2016 marked the start of a new chapter for the Senior Friendship Health Center and the opening of our new shared facility located off Airport-Pulling Road. This site, a collaborative between the Healthcare Network of Southwest Florida, Florida State University and the Senior Friendship Health Center, aims to comprehensively care for the underserved aging population in Collier County. This innovative center utilizes each organization’s strengths to provide the full continuum of care, including geriatric primary care, multi-specialty medical care, dental care, patient education, and community resources. We serve patients in a traditional ambulatory multispecialty center.
