Adult Day Service
Health care providers and health regulators are beginning to understand that the combination of day programs and staying at home can be a cost effective and better way of caring for individuals with memory issues, as opposed to placement in a nursing home or memory care facility. Our fully licensed, Adult Day Service is the ideal program for an older adult who is experiencing cognitive or medical issues. It’s also a place that offers you, the caregiver, peace of mind – for as many days and hours you choose each week.
Support for Caregivers
Through our Caregiver Resource Centers in Sarasota and Venice, we help you decide the best plan for you and your family. We have access to local, state and national resources, many reference materials and a lending library. Educational programming is offered both on site and in the community. Lee County also offers caregiver education information, and respite care offered through RELIEF (Respite for Elders Living in Everyday Families).
Caregivers who live with and care for someone with dementia can experience extraordinary amounts of stress. That’s why we offer support groups – private, safe gatherings where you can ask questions, voice concerns and get new ideas from others. In Sarasota and Venice, groups meet weekly and discussions are completely confidential. It’s also a great place to meet people who share your experience. In addition, we offer a caregiver therapy group facilitated by a trained practitioner.
The Caregiving Place Process
We understand you may feel overwhelmed or stressed, and it is our goal to help. After your initial call about our Adult Day Service program, we will work with you to determine if our services are a good match for your needs. We will arrange a tour of the facility, and if your loved one qualifies and our services are appropriate, we’ll work as a team to map out a plan for admission in The Caregiving Place’s day program. Calls to the Sarasota and Venice locations are answered M-F from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and if a message is left, it will be answered within 24 hours. Hours of operation vary by location, and we encourage you to call the numbers below for assistance.
