Helping You Through the Journey of Aging

Our mission is to help older adults navigate through the journey of aging with health, dignity and quality of life. One of the ways we do that is through services that can get you the help and assistance you need, without having to wade through miles of red tape. No matter your circumstances, the Friendship Centers has many resources to help achieve this. We can help you find and apply for financial aid, legal aid and emergency help for heating or cooling bills through the Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly Program (EHEAP). We are also an official counseling site for Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders (SHINE), where we offer assistance to help you make good health insurance, Medicare and Medicaid decisions. We are able to offer these services in partnership with other organizations including the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and other government programs. ACCESS is an additional program offered through the Florida Department of Children and Families. As a partner we provide help in applying for food stamps, Medicaid and temporary cash assistance. Individuals can also call the Elder Helpline at 866.413.5337 – it is a wonderful repository of information with trained, caring phone staff.
